River Wye – Symonds Yat – Beats 1 & 2

Beat 1. The 2 fields above St Dubricious church. This stretch runs from the upper limit of the fishery where a style crosses into a greenhouse area and downriver 2 fields to where a small brook runs into the river just before the church frontage. There is no fishing in front of church boundary. The church car park MUST NOT on any account be used for parking.

Beat 2. From the downstream boundary of Sterretts Caravan Park to the rapids at the head of the Island below The Royal Lodge Hotel, Symonds Yat East

Please note that the 120-metre section between the two canoe launching ramps at the rear of River Wye Caravan & Camping Park, Symonds Yat West, is now only available for fishing between 1st November and 14th March.

This area is closed to all fishing during the caravan site’s high season. The restriction applies to all club members as well as caravan park guests.

We will continue to work closely with the landowner to review this restriction going forward. Appropriate signage will be erected shortly.

Car parking is at pay and display sites as indicated on the map and road side parking at Whitchurch.

Junior anglers can fish the water as long as they are accompanied by an adult of 18yrs or over.

All fish to be returned to the water with the exceptions of Dace and Bleak if required for Pike bait.

Night fishing is strictly prohibited.

Anglers should be aware of the steep banks, clearing of pegs from bankside weed or small branches is permitted but the felling of trees is prohibited. There are a number of small gardens that extend to the river, anglers are not allowed to fish these pegs without first obtaining permission from the owner. Anglers fishing near to any Hotel or dwelling must not make any undue noise or create a disturbance.

Fishing is for coarse fish only.
