Brief description of fishery:
Morgan’s Pond is just over 4 Acres with an average depth of 4’ consisting of a large head of common and mirror carp into the mid 20’s and plenty of skimmers with bream to over 4 lb, numerous pike to over 20 lbs, and roach are also to be found here. There are lesser numbers of tench, crucian carp, and perch. The pond is open all year round. There is limited Night fishing on this pond strictly by joining the Night fishing Group for which there are limited numbers.
Address
The pond is situated on the outskirts of Newport Town centre just north of the M4 motorway less than a mile from Junction 26. The pond sits adjacent to Woodstock pond and is separated by 50 metres and a bridge over a small brook. The pond can be accessed via Woodstock car park but it has its own parking facilities.
Access & Parking
The car park can be found on the third turning left as you enter Bettws lane from Maplas Road, down a narrow tarmacked track found between the electricity substation and Malpas Cricket Club. 250 metres down the track you will find a locked gate and key access through this will take you to the car park that serves Morgans Pond and School Pool.
