Brief description of fishery:
Woodstock Pond covers approximately 3 acres and consists of 40 permanent pegs. It has an elongated central island providing an obvious feature. With an average depth of 5’, F1 Carp and skimmer Bream to 2lb dominate with a number of Common and Mirror carp to mid-teens in weight. There are also stocks of tench, roach, perch to 3lb, and some chub. For winter sport there are a small number of Pike but they do run to 30lb. The pond is open all year.
Address
The pond is situated on the outskirts of Newport Town centre just north of the M4 motorway less than a mile from Junction 26. The main car park can be found between the canal and the cricket club at the eastern end (Malpas road end) of Bettws lane.
Access & Parking
The car park can be found on the second turning left as you enter Bettws lane from Maplas Road, as you cross the canal you will see a gantry leading into a large council car park, the pond entrance is gated and at the far end of the car park, access to the pond is by key only.
